Box Score Los Angeles, Calif. -- JaLea Bennett and LaBrittney Jones reached double figures, but the Arizona Wildcats fell to No. 14 UCLA 80-53 Friday night at Pauley Pavilion.
Bennett, a sophomore from Grand Prarie, Texas, finished with15 points on 7 of 12 shooting. She knocked down her only free throw and collected three rebounds. The game marked the fifth time this season Bennett reached double figures and the second time in Pac-12 play. The 15 points marked a conference season-best for the guard.
Jones reached double figures for the 13th time this season and the eighth time in the last 10 games. Jones also had a team-high seven rebounds.
The Wildcats (11-18, 2-15 Pac-12) played the Bruins tight early and led 12-9 more than five minutes into the first quarter. Taryn Griffey and Malena Washington knocked in 3-pointers during the start and senior Keyahndra Cannon added two buckets to go with a hoop from Bennett.
The Bruins finished the quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 19-12 lead after the first. UCLA, ranked 14th in the most recent AP Top 25, then outscored Arizona 22-9 in the second quarter to take a 41-21 lead at halftime.
UCLA shot better than 50 percent for the game and 55 percent in the second half. UCLA also connected on six of 11 3-pointers in the win. The Bruins saw five players reach double figures, led by 13 from Nirra Fields. Cannon finished with eight points and four assists for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will return to action Sunday afternoon against USC. The game will mark the regular season finale for Arizona, before heading to Seattle for the Pac-12 Tournament. Arizona's first round opponent will be announced after the regular season.
