After an exciting Friday day one at the Armory Indoor Track facility, the Wildcats again had themselves a productive outing Saturday in New York.
“We came out here with a purpose this weekend. We wanted to have a great experience and be able to compete at the highest level that we possibly can and we were able to accomplish that with all of those top performances this weekend.” Head coach Fred Harvey said. “I was very pleased to see what the young ladies did in the 200-meter, especially Tatum, that was very exciting to see. The 800-meter as well with Lizzie and Collins was fantastic as well. All around it was a great competition and we look forward to coming back here again.”
Lizzie Smith posted a personal record in the women's 800-meter race with a mark of 2:08.36 and placed third overall.
Collins Kibet competed in the 800-meter race invitational and tied his personal record at 1:48.85 while coming in second place.
Tatum Waggoner ran the 200-meter race preliminaries and posted a personal record good enough to qualify her for the finals at 24.25 seconds, the fourth best time overall. She clocked in at 24.36 in the finals good for fifth place overall.
Blake Eichler qualified for the men's 200-meter final by placing seventh in the preliminary with a mark of 21.87 seconds. He would post a time of 22.02 in the final for another seventh place finish.
Gia Trevisan ran a personal record in the 200-meter race by clocking in at 25.07 seconds. Jasper Gray also competed and ran a 25.32.
Arizona had a women's squad in the 4x400 relay invitational and was made up by Lizzie Smith, Tatum Waggoner, Gia Trevisan, and Sage Watson. The team posted a time of 3:42.23 taking fifth place in a loaded field.
Kayla Ferron ran a time of 10:04.07 in the women's 3,000-meter race.
The third and last section of the men's 3,000-meter race was ran today and Roth's personal record time of 8:13.72 he ran yesterday put him in second place overall.
Arizona will be back in action with split squads next week. The Wildcats will have a team going to Seattle for the Husky Invitational and New Mexico for the Don Kirby Invitational. Both will begin on Friday, February 12th.
