TEMPE, Ariz. –
Arizona's track and field team was back in action today for the third track meet in the last nine calendar days at the Arizona State Invitational in Tempe, Arizona. Schools from the Pac-12 and Big-10 conferences competed.
Emma Ljungberg and Addison Harden competed in the women's hammer throw today. Ljungberg finished in 16th with a mark of 152 ft. - 4 in. (46.43m) and Harden finished 19th at 145 ft. - 5 in. (44.33m).
Clay Cashman had his third consecutive personal record in the hammer throw, this time with a mark of 177 ft. - 10 in. (54.21m). That was good for a 13th place finish. Cody Dalton also competed and came in 16th place with a mark of 157 ft. - 11 in. (48.14m).
Erik Mensendiek competed in the javelin throw and placed seventh overall with a mark of 198 ft. - 5 in. (60.48m).
Kayla Ferron had a nice personal record in the 5,000-meter race, placing seventh overall at a time of 17:54.52. Kirsten Vergara came in ninth place with a mark of 17:56.89. Hannah Whetzel finished 11th at 18:30.62.
Jeff Gautreau, Brendan Tinoco, and Alex Hart competed in the 5,000-meter race for the men. Gautreau finished 13th at 15:50.91. Tinoco placed 14th at 15:51.32. Hart placed 15th at 16:06.60.
The Cats will be back in action tomorrow with events beginning at 2:30 p.m. MST.
