Arizona to Host Washington Schools This Weekend

Tucson, Ariz.- The University of Arizona women's tennis team will look to win their first conference matches of the season as they take on No. 62 Washington State on Friday April, 1 at 1:30 p.m. MST before competing against No. 61 Washington the following day at 12:00 p.m. MST.

“The Washington schools are always tough competitors,” said head coach Vicky Maes. “We will need to put together a strong and complete team effort if we are to get these wins. We played well against Sacramento State last week and I hope to keep some of that momentum going.”

The Wildcats are currently 11-8 after winning home matches against UAB (4-2) and Sacramento State (6-1) last week to put an end to a five-match slide.  Junior Lauren Marker went undefeated on court one during the two non-conference matches and heads into this week's contests ranked 39th in the nation. Arizona also has the 53rd-ranked doubles team in Marker and senior Shayne Austin.

Washington State is currently 17-4 on the season and comes to Arizona riding a four match winning streak after taking down Portland (5-2), Utah (4-2), Colorado (6-1), and BYU (6-1).

Washington has an 11-7 overall record and is currently 2-3 in Pac-12 play after taking down Colorado on Mar. 18 and Utah on Mar. 19. The Huskies will play against ASU in Tempe a day prior to facing Arizona.

Admission into LaNelle Robson is always free and live stats for both matches will be available HERE come match day.
