TUCSON, Ariz.– The University of Arizona men's golf team concluded play at the Western Intercollegiate on Wednesday at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif. The team finished in 12th place with a score of 1,119 (+69).

Leading the Cats in the final round was redshirt sophomore Jake Kreuz and freshman Martin Larrea. The pair notched a 74 (+4) in the final round combining for three birdies. Kreuz netted a 221 (+11) to tie him for 49th place. Larrea had the low score for the Cats, carding a 218 (+4) to put him in a tie for 37th. Larrea leaves Santa Cruz with a new low 54-hole career score, and has shown improvement in his five collegiate appearances setting a new career low every tournament.

“We struggled today to keep the ball on the right side of the hole,” said head men's golf coach Jim Anderson. “The course was very challenging and we became frustrated. It is important that we stay patient and use this experience to be ready for challenges at PAC-12 Championship in two weeks. We will be tested again and we must respond better as a group.”

Senior Kolton Lapa went eight over in the final day of play to put him in a tie with Kreuz for 49th place. The senior closes out the regular season with a score of 221 (+11) off nine birdies.

Sophomore Peter Koo ends the tournament tied for 73rd place with a score of 230 (+20). Freshman Tyler Moore placed 77th with a score of 231 (+21). Sophomore Jordan Gumberg notched a 237 (+27) to tie for 87th.

Up next, the Cats will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to compete in the PAC 12 Championships on April 29.
