TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona men's golfer Filip Jakubcik was named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2026 Ben Hogan Award presented by Baird on Thursday. The award is handed out by the Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) to a men's college golfer who exhibits excellence in academics and college golf.
The three finalists for the award will be announced on May 12 with the winner selected May 25 at Colonial Country Club.
Jakubcik is currently ranked No. 24 in the country as an individual according to the latest Scoreboard rankings by Clippd. He has finished inside the Top 25 in six of seven stroke play events and has gone 3-0 in three stroke play events. He won the N.I.T. event at Omni Tucson National in January and was second at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in March. Overall on the season, his win-loss record is 386-79-11 and his adjusted scoring average is 68.5 for the season.
Criteria that is considered when choosing a winner includes:
- Student-athlete must be in good academic standing and progressing towards graduation
- Competitive record including all collegiate and amateur events since the award was presented the previous year
- Collegiate tournament victories
- Consistently high finishes
- Win/Loss record against other candidates for the award
Jakubcik and the Wildcats will be back in action at the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes in Oklahoma on April 27-29 before serving as an NCAA Regional host at The Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain just north of Tucson from May 11-13.
