CALIFORNIA – The University of Arizona track team sent four athletes to compete in two meets this weekend. Addi Zerrenner and Kirsten Vergara ran the 10K and Molly Callahan ran the 5K at the Mt. Sac Relays in Norwalk, Calif. while Gerhard De Beer competed in the discus throw at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
On Thursday night, both Vergara and Zerrenner ran in their first ever collegiate 10K. Zerrenner took 14th in the Women's 10K Elite Race with a time of 34:33.02 and Vergara finished in 12th place in the women's 10K Open after clocking a time of 36:21.05. On Friday, Callahan clocked a time of 17:32.73 and finished in 27th place in the 5K. As of right now, Zerrenner's time is the 47th-best mark in the country.
This afternoon, De Beer tossed a mark of 193-4 (58.94m) and finished in sixth place. That is De Beer's best mark of the year and was 0.39 meters away from tying his personal best. That is also the 16th-best mark in the country.
