RIO DE JANEIRO – Four Wildcat swimmers wrapped up Olympic Competition on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Kevin Cordes (USA), Brad Tandy (South Africa), Michael Meyer (South Africa) and Tjasa Oder (Slovenia) each had strong showings during the first week of the 2016 Olympics. 
 
In his first Olympic appearance, Cordes earned a gold medal as a member of the 4x100m medley relay. Cordes swam the breaststroke leg in the prelims, giving him a gold medal despite not swimming in the final.
 
The former Wildcat took fourth in the 100m breast final with a time of 59.22, just missing the podium. Cordes also competed in the 200m breast final, finishing eighth in 2:08.34.
 
Representing South Africa, Tandy landed in the 50m free final on day seven. The former Wildcat tied for sixth with Brazil's Bruno Fratus (21.79).
 
Also a member of the South African team, Meyer placed 17th in the 400m IM prelims with a time of 4:18.13, only missing the semifinal by one spot.
 
Current Wildcat, Oder competed in two events in her second Olympic appearance representing Slovenia. Oder finished 13th in the 800m free prelims with 8:33.14. Only the top eight moved on to the final. She also was a member of the 4x200m freestyle relay team that placed 15th in 8:02.22.
 
Overall, the Pac-12 tallied 15 gold medals, six silver and four bronze in swimming.
 
Up Next: Rafael Quintero will compete in the 10m platform prelims on Fri. Aug. 19th at 1:00 p.m. ET. The semifinal and final will take place on Sat. Aug. 20th.
