TUCSON, AZ – This weekend the Arizona GymCats will be traveling to an away meet held in College Park, Maryland. In their first quad-meet of the season, the GymCats will face Alaska, Maryland, and 2016 Big 10 regular-season champions, Minnesota. On Saturday, Jan. 14 the meet will begin at 2 p.m. Mountain Standard Time and will be streamed on

Last week the GymCats took on Texas Woman's University and Utah State during a tri-meet at home in McKale Center. The GymCats won the meet with a 194.025, with Utah State earning a 191.600 and Texas Women's scoring 189.500. Arizona will enter the quad-meet with a 2-0 record and looks to build off that this upcoming weekend.
During the home opener on Jan. 6, freshman
Heather Swanson made her collegiate debut and anchored vault for Arizona, earning a score of 9.850. Swanson not only took home the first place title on vault, but she also had the highest score of the meet. Senior
Selynna Felix-Terrazas came up big on bars, earning a 9.825 and the first place bars title. Junior
Madison Cindric was the epitome of poise and grace during her balance beam routine, helping Arizona reach first place in yet another event.
"We loved starting the season at home in front of an amazing crowd, and it also prepared us for our quad-meet format this weekend," said head coach
Tabitha Yim. "It will be great to get outside our comfort zone and to go up against strong programs outside of the Pac-12 Conference. We look forward to an exciting competition and to providing our athletes with valuable experience on the road."
