TUCSON, Ariz. -- Following an All-American senior season at Arizona, outside hitter
Kalei Mau was signed to play professionally in Puerto Rico with Indias de Mayaguez.
The season got underway in January, and Mau has had an immediate impact. Mau leads the team in kills, playing the same role she played at UA.Â
Mau, an all-region and all-conference performer, finished second in the Pac-12 in kills/set (4.07) in 2016 after finishing third in 2015. Mau, who battled injury all year, enjoyed a late-season surge to become one of the most effective hitters in the conference. Mau finished sixth in Arizona history in career kills per set (3.68) and sixth in 20-plus-kill career matches (15).
Mau continues a rich tradition of Wildcats to enjoy success overseas professionally, joining, most recently, Madi Kingdon, who is playing professionally in one of the top leagues in the world in Korea.
