INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Women's swimming and diving closed out day 3 of the NCAA Championships remaining in 14th with a score of 78.5. Stanford still leads with 374.5 while California sits in second (255) followed by Texas A&M (209).
The team of
Taylor Garcia,
Kennedy Lohman,
Annie Ochitwa and
Katrina Konopka earned All-America honors in the 200 medley relay with a sixth-place finish in the finals (1:35.63). The same group took fourth in the prelims as Konopka swam the fastest freestyle leg of all the teams with 21.30.
Freshman
Hannah Cox swam in her first individual finals of her collegiate career in the 400 IM. Cox finished fourth in the B final with a personal-best 4:06.62, earning All-America Honorable Mention honors.
In the prelims of the event, junior
Tjasa Oder took 45th with a time of 4:16.20.
Making her NCAA Championship debut, freshman Lohman was one spot from landing in the finals. Lohman placed 17th in the prelims of the 100 breast with a time of 59.94.
In the 100 fly prelims, sophomore Ochitwa finished 20th with 52.18. Sophomore
Mackenzie Rumrill took 41st with 53.35.
Sophomore Garcia had the next best finish at 22nd in the prelims of the 200 back (52.21). Swimming at her first NCAA Championships, junior
Cameron McHugh took 49th with 54.02.
In the prelims of the 3-meter, senior
Karolyn Loftus finished 24th (292.10) followed by senior
Sally Hackett (287.35).
Freshman
Kirsten Jacobsen then placed 28th in the 200 free with 1:45.84.
Up Next: Women's swimming and diving concludes the 2017 NCAA Championships on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 7 a.m. MST with the prelims of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay and platform. The 1,650 free will also take place on the final day.
