Laskin Qualifies For U.S. Amateur Championships

The sophomore is carrying his momentum from his freshman season into the summer.

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. – Arizona sophomore David Laskin will play at the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship by finishing as a co-leader at 6-under par in qualifying play at Rancho Murieta Country Club outside Sacramento.

Laskin opened the two days of play with a blistering 67, which matched the lowest round on course during the qualifier. He followed up his low round with a 69 on the second day, making him one of just four players in the 85-man field to shoot below bar in both rounds.

The Elk Grove, Calif. native will head to the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. on Aug. 14 to 20.

Laskin finished a strong freshman season by leading the Wildcats at the Pac-12 Championships after recording six birdies on a snow-ravaged course in Colorado. It was the second top-20 finish of the season for Laskin after posting his career low 54-hole score in the Western Intercollegiate in California before heading to the Pac-12 Championships.
