TUCSON, Ariz. -- Former Arizona volleyball head coach Rosie Wegrich has been inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame, the association announced on Monday. Wegrich along with Debbie Brown, John Cook and Cecile Reynaud make up the 2017 AVCA Hall of Fame class.
Wegrich was Arizona's head coach from 1977-1991, winning 258 games during her 15 seasons. Wegrich ushered Arizona into the NCAA Division I era, beginning in 1981; she took the Wildcats to the first nine NCAA Tournaments.
In total, Wegrich went 258-229-9 in her time spanning 15 years in Tucson. She was Arizona's all-time winningest volleyball coach until current head coach
Dave Rubio surpassed her total in 2005. Wegrich's 258 victories at Arizona are a part of her 743 total NCAA victories. In addition to Arizona, Wegrich has also coached at Minnesota (1975-77) and Cal Poly Pomona (1992-Present).
Wegrich coached a trio of All-Americans at Arizona: Anita Moss, Caren Kemner and Melissa McLinden. Kemner and McLinden's names still hang in the rafters of McKale Center in the Ring of Honor along with Terry Lauchner, who also played under Wegrich.Â
