10/24/2018 | Cross Country
Tucson, Ariz. – The University of Arizona cross country program will travel to Palo Alto, Calif. to compete in the 2018 Pac-12 Championships hosted by Stanford on Friday, Oct. 26th. Competition starts with the ladies 6K beginning at 11:10 a.m. MST with the men's 8K following at 12:10 p.m. MST.
For the second consecutive year, the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships will be broadcast live on Friday, Oct. 26 beginning at 11 a.m. MST. Both races will air live nationally on Pac-12 Network as well as across all six Pac-12 regional channels. The events will also be available to stream live for authenticated subscribers via the Pac-12 Now app and Pac-12.com. On the call will be Jim Watson, Dwight Stones and Lewis Johnson.
"We have our team as ready as we possibly can," said head cross country coach James Li. "We have had great performances by our front runners; Addi (Zerrenner) and Jennie (Baragar-Petrash) on the women's side and Carlos (Villarreal) for the men. Our task this week will be to get our third and fourth runner closer to the front. The Pac-12 is arguably the strongest in the country and there are no weak teams. It will be a great competitive experience for us. We are really looking forward to go and run better than what we did at the Pre-National."
Making the trip to Stanford will be Jennie Baragar-Petrash, Keelah Barger, Grace David, Alaina Kautz, Lauren Neugeboren, Hannah Whetzel and Addi Zerrenner.
For the men, Hunter Davila, Shem Kemboi, Ryan Matson, Connor McCabe, Travis Thorne, Seamus White and Carlos Villarreal will compete for the conference title.
Last time out, the Cats competed in the NCAA Pre-National. Individually, Villarreal finished 10th overall in the men's white race. The redshirt junior clocked a time of 24:00.97 in the 8K run.
