Cats Travel to San Diego for Lamkin Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona men's golf team is headed west to San Diego to compete in the Lamkin San Diego Classic. The tournament will take place March 12 -13, with the first two rounds played on the first day starting at 7:30 am (MST), and the third round played on the final day, beginning at 8 a.m (MST). Competition will take place at the San Diego Country Club on a par 72, 7,033 yard course.
"We are looking forward to playing San Diego Country Club this week," commented head coach Jim Anderson. "Several from our team have seen and competed on this course and we anticipate very fast greens and a need to remain disciplined and patient. The guys' confidence level is high so we are going to center our focus on making great swings at targets that will put us in position to score. We are very good at distance control so we should be need to be calculated as we circle the course each round."
The field will consist of 16 teams including ranked schools such as Oklahoma State (1), Texas Tech (9), and Texas (13). Rounding out the competition is: North Carolina, Louisville, Colorado State, Saint Mary's College, Colorado, San Diego State, Mississippi,Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico, Loyola Marymount, San Diego and University of Connecticut.
In the lineup for the Cats, senior George Cunningham is coming off of his fourth top ten finish of the season, as well as a career low tournament score of 205 (-11) at the N.I.T. Sophomores David Laskin and Brad Reeves will also be making the trip, who both finished in the top 20 in the N.I.T. Freshmen Trevor Werbylo and Tianlang Guan complete the lineup for the team, who have two top ten finishes combined this season.
