SEATTLE – The Arizona Wildcats dropped their sixth one-run game of the season Saturday afternoon, falling to Washington 1-0 at Husky Ballpark in the second game of a three-game set.

Arizona and Washington entered the ninth inning knotted at zero. The Wildcats threatened in the top half when
Nick Quintana doubled with two outs and
Cesar Salazar drew an intentional walk to put two on with two outs for
Cameron Cannon. But Cannon flew out on the first pitch to send the game to the bottom of the ninth still tied.

In the bottom of the ninth, Washington's Joe Wainhouse walked to begin the inning. Ben Baird then dropped down a bunt back to pitcher
Michael Flynn. Flynn tried to get Wainhouse at second, but the throw went into centerfield, putting two men on with no outs.

After a passed ball moved both runners up, the Wildcats intentionally walked K.J Brady to load the bases for Kaiser Weiss. Weiss worked the count full before singling up the middle to plate pinch-runner Willie MacIver and end the ball game.

The loss dropped Arizona to 10-8 on the season and 0-2 in Pac-12 play. Washington improved to 9-8 and 2-0.

Spoiled in the setback was a stellar start from sophomore left-hander
Randy Labaut. Labaut went 5 2/3 innings, giving up just three hits and no runs. He walked two and struck out three. The crafty lefty lowered his ERA to 1.71 with the start. He's given up just six earned runs in 31 2/3 innings this season.

Labaut exited with two on and two gone in the sixth and Flynn came on to get out of the inning with a ground out. Flynn went 2 1/3 innings, giving up three hits, one unearned run and striking out two, while walking two.

The Wildcats had just four hits in the game. Quintana, Salazar,
Cal Stevenson and
Matt Fraizer each had one in the loss. Other than the ninth, Arizona's best chance to score came an inning earlier in the ninth. Fraizer bunted for a hit with one out and moved to second when
Blake Paugh drew a two-out walk. Stevenson ended the inning when he flew out to left.

Flynn worked around a baserunner in the eighth to pitch a scoreless frame, before Washington won it in the ninth.

The Wildcats and Huskies will wrap up their three-game series Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Arizona has yet to announce a starter for the finale. Jordan Jones will start for Washington.
