TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona women's tennis team (7-5) lost 4-0 to UC Santa Barbara (6-7) on Friday at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

In doubles, Arizona won the first match 6-0 on court two, then UC Santa Barbara won on court one, 6-2. UC Santa Barbara secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court three.
 
The Gauchos continued their success into the singles matches. Palina Dubavets defeated Mary Lewis 6-4, 7-5 on court one. Amanda Atanasson won over Camila Wesbrooks on court two, 6-4, 6-4. UC Santa Barbara clinched the match when Amit Lev Ari defeated Gitte Heynemans 6-3, 7-6 on court four.
 
"I have mixed feelings about today," said head coach Vicky Maes. "I think we did a good job of getting ourselves into good positions, but then we sort of gave it away. We saw a lot of games where we had a lot of opportunities to win the point, and just couldn't covert it in our favor. The matches today were very close, and if we can't step up in crucial moments, we're just going to keep battling ourselves. We need to turn it around and we just have to keep grinding and turning crucial moments in our favor. It was great to see Paris back on the courts today. She looked solid in the doubles and it was good to have her leadership back."

The Wildcats host Sacramento State (2-5) on Saturday, March 3 at noon MST at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
