MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Arizona men sit in 19th place with 18 points after the first full day of competition at the NCAA Championships. Captain
Nick Thorne helped earn all of the Cats points with three All-America Honorable Mention honors.
Thorne earned an All-America Honorable Mention nod in the 200 IM with an 11th-place finish. He placed third in the B final at 1:42.48. The senior posted a personal best and moved up to third all time in Arizona history in the event.
The 800 free relay team, consisting of Thorne,
Jorge Iga,
Brooks Fail, and
Brendan Meyer finished 16th with a time of 6:17.62 on Wednesday night, a season best. Earning two points, the Cats earned All-America Honorable Mention honors.
Chatham Dobbs,
Matthew Salerno,
Justin Wright, and Thorne placed 12th in the 400 medley relay with a season-best 3:05.80 to earn All-America Honorable Mention.
Dobbs,
Thomas Anderson, Iga, and
Parks Jones finished 17th in the 200 free relay at 1:17.51.
Chris Wieser placed 32nd in the 500 free prelims (4:17.82), while Fail placed 40th (4:18.95).
