WESTFIELD, N.J. – Summer may not be part of the official college golf schedule, but it is still a time to compete in events. Arizona senior-to-be
Dylan Stein made the most of his game in July by winning the 117
th New Jersey State Amateur Championship at Echo Lake Country Club in northern New Jersey. Stein used a tap in for par on the 18
th hole to clinch the victory in a playoff.
Â
He used a 2-under par fourth round of 69 on the final day to force a playoff with Jack Wall. The duo remained tied through the three-hole aggregate playoff, forcing a sudden death fourth hole. Stein's final putt of the day was not the only crucial one of the day. The New Jersey native sunk an 18-foot birdie putt on the 18
th hole to force the playoff.
Â
Stein is not the first Wildcat to win New Jersey's Amateur Championship, joining current UA assistant coach and former UA golfer,
Chris Nallen, who won the event in 2001.
