TUCSON, Ariz. – After a pair of lightning delays prevented a smooth start at Kino Sports Complex, Arizona would eventually go on to win in dominating fashion over UTEP by a score of 5-0 in their only exhibition match of the season.
Arizona's goals came from

Amanda Porter (6'),
Hannah Clifford (18'),
Kennedy Kieneker (57') and
Taryn Siegele (88').
The Wildcats came out firing, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match and defended diligently, limiting UTEP to zero shots and corner kicks in the first half. On the other end of things, Arizona took 15 shots on cage and had four corner kicks.
Kieneker added a goal to her two assists early on in the second half to make it 4-0 Arizona. With a comfortable lead, the Wildcats locked it down on defense and kept UTEP at bay, allowing just three shots in the second half. Siegele did add a fifth goal for Arizona off a corner kick from
Dana Dalton in the 88th
The Wildcats will officially get the season started on Friday, Aug. 17 with a home match against Albany. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MST.
