Geer and Smith Medal at Pan Pacs

TOKYO, Japan– Leah Smith earns two more medals, while Margo Geer gets on the board with a second-place finish. Smith, Justin Wright, and Matt Grevers punched their tickets to the 2019 World Championships with dominant swims.

Smith placed third in the 400m free with 4:04.23. Arizona Head Coach Augie Busch speaks to the significance of Smith continuing to dominate her races, "Another individual medal on a major international stage is tremendous and to be named to yet another USA relay is something I know she cherishes.  Perhaps what makes the staff and I the most proud is the fact that she and Matt (Grevers) were named captains for Team USA for the meet.  We can't wait to see what she does the rest of the meet."

Geer earned silver in the 400m free relay, along with Mallory Comerford, Kelsi Dahlia, and Simone Manuel. The four women clocked in at 3:33.45. Geer finished third in the B final of the women's 100 free with 54.47.

Wright placed second in the B final of the 200m fly with 1:57.27. With this swim, Wright qualifies for the 2019 World Championships and will represent Team USA

Grevers, with 52.99, finished fourth in the 100m back. Grevers also earned his spot on the World Championships roster next year.

Smith, with Allison Schmitt, Kathyrn McLaughlin, and Katie Ledecky, earned silver in the 800m free relay with 7:44.37. This relay team will compete for Team USA at the 2019 World Championships.

Coming Up: In the last day of Pan Pacs, Geer will compete in the 50m free and Smith will be in Heat 2 of the 1500m prelims.
