PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The Arizona Women's Tennis team will begin their regular season at the Collegiate Tennis Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. The Cats will send out
Emma Wilson,
Camila Wesbrooks,
Talya Zandberg and
Marie Van Aelst.
Wilson, a transfer from Fresno State, is entering her senior season and is coming off a strong fall season which resulted in her being ranked as the No. 86 player in the nation. She held a 23-14 record, often playing as the No.1 in Fresno State's lineup.
Wesbrooks is also entering her final season as a Wildcat and will complete her tremendous collegiate career. Wesbrooks has played a pivotal role for the team since her freshman year. She posted an 11-10 singles record, second best on the team.
Zandberg will be entering her Sophomore season after an outstanding freshman campaign. She had appeared in 26 matches, and posted a respectable 7-7 singles record.
Van Aelst will be entering the season as the only Junior on the roster. She proved to be most efficient when placed No.3 in the lineup, posting a 3-1 record from the spot.
"It's exciting to start our new era," said head coach Ryan Stotland. "This tournament only has top ten teams so that will be the best competition we can see and learn from. We are excited for the challenge and cannot wait to start the season."
Matches will begin at 9:30 a.m. MST.
