Iowa City, Iowa. – On Friday, the University of Arizona track and field team competed in the opening day of the Larry Wieczrorek Invitational on Friday. Leading the Cats on day one of competition was sophomore
Maksims Sincukovs, who set a PR in the 600-meter run.
600-Meters Deep
In the 600-meter run premier competition, SIncukovs clocked a time of 1:19.01 to win his heat, and finish third overall. Freshman
James Smith also finished first in his heat with a time of 1:19.34 to finish fifth overall. In the 600-meter run open contest, freshman
Tanner Hagstrom clocked a time of 1:20.69 to finish as the top freshman and sixth overall.
Andy Buchanan followed with a time of 1:20.76.
Gustavs Kehris clocked a time of 1:22.71. On the ladies side,
Karolina Pahlitzsch finished fourth in the ladies premier 600-meter run competition with a time of 1:31.22. In the open 600-meter run contest,
Shannon Meisberger finished second with a time of 1:33.43.
Williams Leads Sprints
Umajesty Williams clocked a time of 21.52 in the 200-meter dash to set a new indoor PR. Williams finished second in his premier heat and third overall. On the ladies side, freshman
Neysia Howard finished first in her 200-meter dash premier heat with a time of 24.49 to finish fourth overall.
Tatum Waggoner finished fifth with a mark of 24.52.
Diana Gajda finished eighth with a time of 24.64.
Distance Opens 2019 With a PR
Sophomore
Kayla Young opened the 2019 indoor season with a mark of 9:58.68 in the ladies 3000-meter run to set a new PR in the event. She finished fourth overall and third among underclassmen.
Cats Jump High and Throw Far
Karla Teran lead the Wildcat jumpers on day one of the contest, finishing first in the high jump event with a mark of 1.78m (5-10).
Lillian Lowe took second in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m (5-8.75). On the en's side,
Justice Summerset finished took third in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.15m (7-0.5).
Amarissa Hawker threw a mark of 18.37m (60-3.75) in the weight throw.

Georganne Moline competed in the ladies premier 600-meter run. She won the contest with a time of 1:27.59 to set the No. 1 mark in the world, and new facility and meet records.
