Track Sends Split Squads to Lubbock and Seattle

Tucson, Ariz. – Split squads will be heading to Seattle, Wash. and Lubbock, Texas to compete in the UW Invitational and the Texas Tech Invitational beginning on Friday. Six distance Cats will head to Seattle and 16 athletes from the sprints and throws group will travel to Lubbock.

"We have our distance group heading up to Washington for a good indoor meet," said head track and field coach Fred Harvey. "It is always one of the premier indoor meets of the year for us. It is a really good, high-level indoor meet where we are looking to get athletes NCAA top-16 performances or top-10 MPSF performances. It is going to be a great meet; they have streamlined it quite a bit. The meet level has risen 10-fold and we are pretty excited about the group we are taking up there. The meet out in Lubbock is going to be a fun one for the sprint group and the throwers. Jordan Geist will be throwing again this weekend. He is on that cycle of throwing every two weeks. It is going to give Maj (Williams) a chance to open up in the 400-meters and Tatum (Waggoner) a chance to run another 400, as well as Diana (Gajda). It is going to be a great scene for us to see if we are making the type of progress that we want."
