TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona Women's Tennis team will compete in their first home matches of the regular season on Friday at 10 a.m. MST. against The University of Memphis, followed up by a doubleheader Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. against Northern Arizona University and New Mexico State.
Arizona
The Wildcats are coming off a strong outing in an exhibition against Team Japan last Friday. They swept their singles matches while only dropping one doubles match, leading to their 7-0 victory. Arizona won their first six home matches to start off last season and will look to stay hot at the Robson Tennis Center. Senior
Emma Wilson is coming off a strong fall season, and was named as the No. 86 player in the nation by ITA. While
Csenge Furak will look to make her collegiate home debut.
Memphis
The Grizzlies kicked off their regular season last weekend in Nashville, Tenn. but dropped both of their matches against Vanderbilt and Winthrop. The last time Memphis competed in Tucson against the Cats dates back to the 2009-2010 season when Arizona took the match 6-1.
NAU
The Lumberjacks hold a 1-1 record heading into their matches this weekend in Tucson. They started off the regular season with a win against UC Davis but dropped to Arizona State in Tempe. The team will first match up against Memphis Friday afternoon and then follow up with a match against the Cats Saturday morning. NAU dropped their match last year against Arizona, 0-7.
New Mexico State
The Aggies have competed in just one regular season match this year, in which they proved victorious at home against Western New Mexico. Led by Head Coach Emily Wang, the team will look to avenge their loss against the Wildcats that was back in the 2015-2016 season.
