TUCSON, Ariz. – Jonas Ziverts, who is the highest ranked prospect head coach Clancy Shields has signed during his time at Arizona, will make his Wildcat debut on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the USTA 25k Pro Circuit, which is held right here in Tucson, Ariz. at the Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa at 245 East Ina Road.
 
Ziverts will play his first match on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 11:30 a.m. MST against Aziz Douglas, the No. 574th-ranked player in the world. 
 
"I am excited to see Jonas compete in a high-level pro event such as this," Shields said. "He definitely has the tools to not only compete in this tournament, but he can go very deep in the draw. This is a great opportunity for the Tucson community to see a future star for the Wildcats and someone who we think can do well professionally down the road."
 
It will be a highly anticipated debut as Ziverts was ranked as high as No. 47 in the ITF Junior Rankings, No. 1,234 on the ATP World Tour and was rated as high as a 14.18 Universal Tennis Rating (UTR).
 
As one of the top junior tennis players in the world, Ziverts competed at the 2016 Junior US Open, winning a pair of matches in the qualifying rounds before advancing to compete in the main draw. Ziverts has been training at the Good to Great Tennis Academy in Stockholm.
