Marie Van Aelst is going into her last year playing for the Wildcats. Last season she collected a total of 12 wins and won eight of her 13 doubles matches playing alongside
Talya Zandberg, the most wins of any pairing on the team. Van Aelst won three of the last four matches of the season defeating Denver, Oregon and Utah.
ArizonaWildcats.com sat down with Van Aelst to discuss her last year playing for Arizona.
Q: How have your previous years prepared you to take on a senior role?
A: "My previous years I had a lot of good seniors who showed me the way to be a good senior and leader. Also being at Arizona gave me a lot of experience with practices, coaches, school and how to be a team player and I just want to share those experiences with others to make their time in Arizona as memorable as mine have been!"
Q: What are you looking forward to most as you go into your last year playing for the Wildcats?
A: "I am looking forward to competing as a team and to give it my all, and leave everything I have on the court. Also to create a lot of memories with my teammates that will last a lifetime."
Q: What are your plans for when you graduate?
A: "My plans for when I graduate is to go back to Europe and do my masters in communication management and hopefully to get into the University of Paris."
Q: What will you miss most about Arizona?
A: "I will miss the amazing atmosphere that Arizona has, my friends and teammates from all over the world and the warm weather all year round."
Q: What goals do you have for the team this year?
A:"The goals I have this year for the team are to go out every match and try as hard as we can, to enjoy every single moment because four years go by really fast and to make NCAAs as a team so that I can finish my college career with a bang!"
