Talya Zandberg finished last season with 20 total singles wins, 12 coming during the Spring season, which was tied for the most on the team. She went 7-4 at the No. 3 spot in the lineup and 5-3 at the No. 4 spot.
Zandberg also held a record of 8-5 in doubles alongside
Marie Van Aelst, the most wins of any pairing on the team and won her last three matches against Denver, Oregon and Utah, all at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.
ArizonaWildcats.com sat down with Zandberg to discuss her experience thus far.
Q: How did your experience in the army prepare you for college tennis?
A: "I had a good experience in the army which helped me a lot during college tennis. It is about working with my friends for same goal and helping each other and putting things first other than yourself."
Q: What do you like most about being a part of the team?
A: "I really like how everyone is there for you and how it is all about working together. I like the excitement of when we achieve a goal with my teammates."
Q: What was the most difficult obstacle you faced living in a different culture and how did you overcome it?
A: "The most difficult obstacle I think is to be far away from home and away from my culture. I overcome it by making some friends that are from my country and knowing that many of my teammates dealing with it together."
Q: What are you looking forward to most this year?
A: "I'm looking forward get some good wins with my teammates and battle with them on the court! Making unforgettable memories."
