STANFORD, Calif. -- The Arizona women's golf team heads to Stanford, California to compete in the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday. The tournament will take place at the Stanford Golf Course, which will host the Pac-12 Championships in April.
Junior Yu-Sang Hou leads the Cats and hopes to build off a strong performance at the Windy City Collegiate. Hou finished in a tie for sixth at three under after shooting par or better in all three rounds.
Freshman Vivian Hou also carries momentum heading into the tournament. Vivian was recently named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for the month of September. Her second-place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which included two rounds of 68, helped her earn the award. Golfweek currently has Vivian and Yu-Sang ranked 15th and 16th respectively in their individual rankings. The sisters are also both ranked inside the top 50 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Junior Hollie Muse will be making her second start of the season, having notched a top-20 in her Wildcat debut. Sophomore Ya Chun Chang had a successful week at the Windy City Collegiate, finishing at 1-under and in a tie for 11th. Freshman Gile Bite Starkute will also be making her second start of the season after competing in the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
"We're super excited about the Stanford Intercollegiate," said head coach Laura Ianello. "We've got a great lineup of Yu-Sang Hou, Vivian Hou, Ya Chun Chang, Hollie Muse and Gile Bite Starkute. The ladies have been working hard. The conditions will be very similar to Chicago. Tough greens and a great competitive Pac-12 field, along with some other great teams. We're just looking to have a good performance and continue with this new lineup and see how the team does."
Play begins at 7:30 a.m. MST on Friday morning.
