Tucson, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Track & Field program will send split squads to Lubbock, Texas & Seattle, Wash. again to compete in the Husky Invitational & the Texas Tech Shootout beginning on February 8th. Sprints, middle distance, jumps and throws will head to Lubbock and distance will compete in Seattle.
Â
"This weekend is a pretty important weekend for us," said head track and field coach
Fred Harvey. "Pretty much the whole team that we think is going to be at the MPSF & NCAA Championships will be in action this weekend. The distance runners will be up in Seattle, which should be a fabulous meet. They're fit and ready to compete. That should be a really big test for them up there. Carlos (Villarreal) will be trying to put together a really good mile. It is important that he gets it going up there in Seattle. In Texas, Jordan will continue to solidify his place at the NCAA level. We have some relay teams that need to get going this weekend; we are going to have some really good competition with the Texas schools and some of the SEC schools that will be there at Texas Tech. It is time to really step it up. We are going to open up Maksims (Sincukovs) in his first indoor 800-meter run ever. Everything that have tried to build to this point will come to fruition and we will see if he can be a threat to make the NCAA Championships in the 800."
