Tucson, Ariz. – Jordan Geist shined as the Cats wrapped up competition in the Texas Tech Shootout on Saturday. The sophomore closed out the event with the No. 3 mark on the IAAF list. On the track, the men's 200-meter dash group set five PRs.
Knochness Monster
Geist closed out the shot put contest with a season-best mark of 21.15m (69-4.75). His mark puts him at the No.4 spot on the IAAF list, No. 2 on the NCAA list, and he claims the meeting and facility records. On the ladies side,
Megan Dulaney threw a mark of 14.44m (47-4.5).
Jordan Spradlin threw a mark of 14.36m(47-2) to set a new PR and finish second in her section.
Five Up, Five PRs
All five Cats running in the men's 200-dash registered PRs.
Umajesty Williams clocked a time of 21.35.
Zakee Washington crossed the line in 21.49.
David Egbo ran a time of 21.76, and
Trevor Volpe followed in 21.96.
Daniel Egbo clocked a time of 22.16. On the ladies side,
Na'Asha Robinson clocked a season-best time of 23.73 to win her heat.
Tatum Waggoner crossed the line in a season-best time of 23.79. Freshman
Neysia Howard clocked a time of 24.16 to set a new PR.
Cats in the Air
Justice Summerset jumped a season-best 2.17m (7-1.5) to finish as the second collegian in the contest.
Justin Lewis registered a mark of 2.07m (6-9.5). On the ladies side,
Lillian Lowe finished first with a season-best mark of 1.82m (5-11.5).
Karla Teran cleared 1.77m (5-9.75) and
Alexa Porpaczy registered a mark of 1.72m (5-7.75).
Up next, the Cats will travel to Flagstaff, Ariz. to compete in the NAU Tune-Up on February 15th.
