Tucson, Ariz. –– On Friday at Roy P. Drachman Stadium, the Cats will open their 2019 outdoor season with the Willie Williams Classic. Collegiate competition is set to begin on Friday at 2 p.m. MST with the throwing events and the running events will get started at 4 p.m.
Â
"It is always an exciting time to start the outdoor season," said head track and field coach
Fred Harvey. "It is a quick transition from indoor to outdoor, but the majority of the team will compete this weekend. It will be a lot of fun to have the whole group together … we are going to get a feel for what we can do outside. It should be a pretty competitive meet with BYU bringing a pretty large squad out and UCLA is bringing most of their team … It is going to give our athletes a good opportunity to see some good competition and be outside. I am looking forward to seeing what we can do in this first meet as we are building towards the conference championships."
