SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico- Arizona men's golf posted a top-five finish in their first appearance among the elite field at the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate. The Cats finished in fifth with a score of 862 (+10). Sophomore Trevor Werbylo tabbed his 5^th top-ten finish of the season, going eight-under throughout the three-day tournament.
 
"We had a solid tournament as a team," commented head coach Jim Anderson. "Many of the teams in this great field have seen the course and preparing without knowing is a challenge. We put in a solid game plan and generally executed well. We wanted to improve every round and came up short of that with the challenging course set up today and wind early in the round. Trevor was fantastic and he is playing with a lot of confidence. David was also reliable like he always is with great iron play and steady golf. We feel hungry to improve but also know we have a talented squad."
 
Werbylo finished with a score of 208 (-8) for a fourth place finish. The Tucson native now has 14 rounds at or under par this season, scoring 69-68-68 in Mexico. Werbylo notched 13 birdies, the fourth-most in the competition, and ranked in the top three in par-three and par-four scoring.
 
Junior David Laskin wrapped up the competition tied in 18^th, for his fifth top-twenty finish of the season. Laskin scored an even-par 213. Other scores for the Cats included a four-over par, 217 for senior Ethan Marcus, a sixteen-over par, 229 for junior Brad Reeves, and a nineteen-over par, 232 for sophomore Tianlang Guan.
 
The Cats finished in the top five with highly ranked Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Baylor, and Vanderbilt. Next up for the program is the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic in Chula Vista, Calif. coming up this week from March 11^th-12^th.
