LAS VEGAS – Today, the media voting was concluded and
Aari McDonald and
Cate Reese were named to All-Conference teams. McDonald was named to the All-Pac-12 and All-Defensive Teams while Reese was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Â
McDonald, who was named to the coaches All-Pac-12 and All-Defensive Team, is the nation's third-leading scorer who also leads the Pac-12 in points per game and steals per game, finished the regular season averaging 24.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. She joins Kelsey Plum, Sabrina Ionescu and Candice Wiggins as the only four players in conference history to have 700 points and 120 assists in one season.
Â
The sophomore is Arizona's single-season scoring record holder and is currently 12th on the Pac-12's single-season scoring list. Only three sophomores in Pac-12 history have scored more points in one season (Ionescu, Plum and Wiggins) and she needs just 28 more points to break the Pac-12 sophomore record.
Â
Reese, who was also named to the coaches' All-Freshman team, is the Pac-12's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer among freshmen. She finished the regular season averaging 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Â
The Cypress, Texas native has five double-doubles this season and was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week three times this year. Her 197 total rebounds is the fifth-most among freshmen in Arizona history.
Â
McDonald and Reese will be on the floor in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday, Mar. 7 against USC at 3 p.m. MST in the MGM Grand Garden Arena
