Villarreal Advanced to Final, Geist Garners First Team All-America Honors

Birmingham, Ala. –– Carlos Villarreal and Jordan Geist opened the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. Villarreal advanced to tomorrow's mile final and Geist closed out the night with First Team All-America Honors.
 
On To the Final
Villarreal closed out day one of the completion with a fourth-place finish in his mile run heat to auto qualify for tomorrow's final. He crossed the line in 4:09.37 to finish 10th overall in the prelim.
 
All-American
Jordan Geist wrapped up the NCAA Championships finishing fifth in the shot put with a toss of 20.28m (66-6.5). The sophomore wraps up his indoor campaign as a First Team All-American and as the USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year.
 
The Cats return to action tomorrow with Villarreal competing in the mile final at 3:20 p.m. MST and Lillian Lowe in the high jump at noon MST.
