Birmingham, Ala. –– Carlos Villarreal and
Jordan Geist opened the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. Villarreal advanced to tomorrow's mile final and Geist closed out the night with First Team All-America Honors.
On To the Final
Villarreal closed out day one of the completion with a fourth-place finish in his mile run heat to auto qualify for tomorrow's final. He crossed the line in 4:09.37 to finish 10th overall in the prelim.
All-American
Jordan Geist wrapped up the NCAA Championships finishing fifth in the shot put with a toss of 20.28m (66-6.5). The sophomore wraps up his indoor campaign as a First Team All-American and as the USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year.
The Cats return to action tomorrow with Villarreal competing in the mile final at 3:20 p.m. MST and
Lillian Lowe in the high jump at noon MST.
