TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona softball senior pitcher Taylor McQuillin has been named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after throwing a pair of shutouts vs. No. 17 Arizona State, the conference announced on Monday.

The honor is the second of the season for McQuillin and fourth Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week selection of her career. It also marks the second consecutive week that an Arizona pitcher has received the award after Alyssa Denham was rewarded for her no-hitter vs. Oregon State last week. This marks the first time since weeks 2 and 3 of 2017 (Oregon: Maggie Balint, Megan Kleist) that two different pitchers from the same school were named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week.

Facing the nation's top scoring offense entering the week (9.12 runs/game), McQuillin threw a pair of two-hit shutouts in Arizona's first ever shutout sweep of Arizona State. The senior allowed four total hits, just one of which went for extra bases (a double), over 12.0 innings against the team that entered the weekend No. 1 in the country in both home runs (65) and slugging percentage (.696).

McQuillin struck out 15 and walked just two in the two shutouts.

On Friday, McQuillin allowed just one runner to reach scoring position in a two-hitter with eight strikeouts over 5.0 innings in UA's 8-0, five-inning win.

On Sunday, McQuillin finished off Arizona's first ever shutout sweep of a Pac-12 opponent since the conference moved to three-game series in 2010 with her second two-hit shutout of the weekend. She struck out seven in the game.

The 2018 NCAA leader in shutouts picked up numbers six and seven this season and improved to 12-5 overall with a 1.36 ERA. McQuillin is now 5-0 in Pac-12 play with a minuscule 0.26 ERA.

This is McQuillin's fourth Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week of her career and sixth overall weekly honor (including two Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards in 2016). It marks Arizona's 171st weekly Pac-12 award all-time.
