OJAI, Calif. - The Arizona Women's Tennis team defeated No. 42 Utah Tuesday afternoon in the Pac-12 Championships by a score of 4-2 to advance to the quarterfinals Wednesday where they will take on No. 2 seeded UCLA at 3 p.m. MST.
Arizona picks up a win in the Pac-12 tournament for the first time in school history. This also marks the second time of the season in which the Wildcats have defeated the Utes.
Just like their previous encounter, Utah grabbed the doubles point to take an early lead in the match but Arizona went on to win four matches in singles, securing their win.
Cats won the first three matches in singles thanks to Talya Zanderg,
Gitte Heynemans, and
Marie Van Aelst who all finished in a quick two sets. Utah grabbed another point with a win on court two but
Emma Wilson clinched the match for Arizona defeating Brianna Chisholm 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
