Justin Wylie Voted Pac-12 Player of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz. – A dominant week of play at the plate has earned Arizona Wildcats outfielder Justin Wylie the honors of Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Across three road games at Washington State Wylie hit .667 (8-for-12) with six runs scored, one double, three home runs, seven RBI, and three walks. He logged a 1.500 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage on the back of three multi-hit games to help the Wildcats sweep the Cougars in the final week of the regular season.

Wylie is the second Wildcat to win Player of the Week honors this season, following Nick Quintana's selection on May 6. This marks the first time since 2017 that Arizona has had multiple Players of the Week in a single season.

His award-winning week began on Thursday night in the Wildcats 21-4 series-opening victory. The senior grad transfer went 3-for-5 with a run scored, one RBI, one double, and a walk.

The Wildcats come-from-behind victory in Friday's game two turned on a clutch home run from Wylie. With Arizona down 4-2 in the sixth inning, Wylie provided the winning runs with a three-run home run. He finished the game going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.

In what will be his final collegiate game on Saturday afternoon, Wylie posted one of the best performances of his career. His 3-for-3 outing included three home runs, three runs scored, two RBI, and two walks as the Cats coasted to a 15-7 victory and a series sweep. It was the first multi-home run game of his Arizona career.

Wylie finished the season hitting .341 (42-for-123) with 37 runs scored and 37 RBI. Of his 42 base hits, over half (23) went for extra bases as he registered 15 doubles, three triples, and five home runs. His .368 batting average in 27 Pac-12 games was the second-best mark on the team among qualified players, and his .341 overall batting average was the best single-season mark of his career.

The Wildcats and Wylie finished the 2019 season on a 10-game win streak, and posted a record of 13-1 in the final month of play.
