SAN FRANCISCO – Arizona redshirt junior guard Jemarl Baker Jr. was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. It's the first weekly award for the Menifee, California native and the first player of the week honor for an Arizona player since Dusan Ristic on Jan. 29, 2018.
 
In three games last week, Baker averaged 19.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the Wildcats improved to 5-0 on the season. He shot 64.7% overall from the floor and 50.0% (10-20) from the 3-point line, including a 7-of-9 effort against NAU.
 
After scoring a combined 12 points over the first two games of the season, Baker opened last week by dropping 33 points against NAU. He was 12-of-16 from the floor overall while scoring the most points ever by a player under head coach Sean Miller. He also added three steals in the game.
 
Two days later against CSU Bakersfield, he tallied 15 points and three rebounds before capping off the week with 11 points and two assists against UTEP.
 
Arizona has now had a player named conference player of the week by the conference 101 times to lead all Pac-12 schools. UCLA is second on the list with 78 honorees.
