Montgomery, Ala.—The Wildcats took down South Alabama today at the Blue-Gray Tournament this weekend. Before that, Arizona faced Auburn and was ahead in five first sets in the singles. Junior Gitte Heynemans and freshman Kayla Wilkins were the only two to win their matches for the Wildcats. Singles play started first due to weather conditions, therefore doubles was not played since the match was decided with singles play. 
 
Later that afternoon Arizona was set to play doubles against SMU and continue singles the next day. The Wildcats lost the doubles point along with three other singles matches that concluded the victory for SMU. Both freshmen Wilkins and Khim Iglupas were up in their third sets when the match was clinched. 
 
On the final day Arizona defeated South Alabama 4-0. The Wildcats took the doubles point with two victories from the No. 1 and 3 spots. Sophomore Csenge Furak clinched the match for the Wildcats winning her match 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot. 
 

"We showed a lot of promise this tournament," head coach Ryan Stotland said. "I'm very happy with our effort and our desire to win.  We have a few things to work on but we're working on it."
