Tucson, ARIZ. – The Wildcats fell to K-State 3-4 in a battle. Freshman Kayla Wilkins got the first point for the Wildcats at the No. 6 spot. Shortly after, sophomore Kirsten Prelle got a point on the board winning 6-3 in the third set at the No.2 spot.Â
With senior Abby Amos and freshman Khim Iglupas falling in their matches the Wildcats were down 3-2. Junior Gitte Heynemans tied the score by winning her match 7-5 in the third set. Battling it out for the victory was Talya Zandberg as she fell to Maria Linares 5-7 in the third set.Â
Arizona lost the doubles point in a split decision. Zandberg and Amos won their match at the No. 3 spot 6-3 meanwhile Prelle and Van Aelst fell 3-6 at the No. 1 spot. The decision was left to Heynemans and Iglupas as they fell 5-7 in a close match.Â
 "It was a great effort," head coach Ryan Stotland said. "Kansas State came out strong, kudos to them. We had our opportunities, fought really hard these will be growing pains. This was an NCAA caliber team and we will get better and learn from this and take it to the next step."Â
