PHOENIX, Ariz. - Arizona came into Phoenix and cruised to its first win of the season behind the efforts of
Kayla Wilkins and
Abby Amos, winning 5-2 over GCU.
The Wildcats struck first with the doubles point, sweeping all three courts. Arizona then went on to win four singles matches. Wilkins, Amos, No. 90
Emily Maxfield, and
Gitte Heynemans all contributed with a singles win, while assisting in the doubles wins as well to continue Arizona's dominance over GCU.Â
Coach Stotland said after the match, "It was amazing to be back competing again. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone at the University of Arizona for making it possible to compete again." He went on to talk about the team's performance, saying, "I am proud of the team for getting a tough road win and we look forward to three challenging matches next weekend in El Paso."
