Wildcats Head to Tallahassee for Pre-Nationals

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Cross Country is back on the road again, making the trip to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the 2021 Pre-NCAA Invitational on Friday, Oct. 15, hosted by Florida State.

The women will kick things off at 5:35 a.m. MST in the 6k garnet race followed by the men in the 8k open race at 6:10 a.m.. Live results for both races can be found here.

The women will face off against nine teams ranked in this week's USTFCCCA Coach's Poll: Colorado (5), Utah (10), Arkansas (11), North Carolina (12), Florida State (15), NAU (16), Georgetown (24), Kentucky (27) and Toledo (28). The women's team was most recently placed 14th in the USTFCCCA West Region rankings.

Teams competing in the men's open 8k include Arkansas State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech and Toledo, among others.

Last time out, the Wildcats hosted the annual Dave Murray Invitational where the women's side won the 6k race led by Grace Driskill who got the individual win as well. Driskill (21:01.5, 1st), Maddy Christopher (21:40.0, 5th) and Alisa Lyesina (21:57.3, 8th) all grabbed top 10 finishes. On the men's side, Shem Kemboi led the way with an 8k PR of 24:47.1 to finish fourth. Ayden Schilb (25:24.1, 8th) and Jeffrey Sillers (25:24.7, 9th) joined him in the top 10. The men's side ultimately finished third as a team.
