Wildcats Pick Up Seven Event Wins at Championships at the Peak

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Arizona Track and Field traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the three-day Championships at the Peak meet this weekend, picking up a total of seven event wins and 11 PRs. 

Thursday Highlights
Skylar Sieben placed fourth overall in the pentathlon with a season best score of 3,914. She picked up a win in the long jump contest with a PR mark of 5.83m (19-1.5) and clocked another personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.65.

Friday Highlights
Israel Oloyede threw a big PR of 23.18m (76-0.75) in the weight throw, breaking his own school record for the third time this season and giving him the second best mark in the country. He was also named the men's Field MVP for the meet.

Tayvian Cunningham led the men's 200m group in the prelims, clocking 21.72 and finishing fourth. Trevor Volpe finished fifth with a time of 21.74 followed by Trent Stimac in seventh with a PR of 21.84. Stimac also qualified in the 60m prelims, clocking another PR of 6.84. Volpe also hit a new personal best in the 60m with a time of 6.86.

In the 400m prelims, Johnnie Blockburger placed second and qualified for the finals with a time of 47.85. On the women's side, Shannon Meisberger ran a time of 54.91 to qualify as well.

Dominic Gehr finished fifth in the men's heptathlon with a final score of 5,055. 

Saturday Highlights
Lillian Lowe won her third consecutive high jump contest with a clearance of 1.83m (6-0), which is good for a new indoor PR and ties the fifth best mark in the NCAA. She was also named the women's Field MVP for the meet. Alexa Porpaczy placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m (5-10.75), giving the Wildcats the top two spots in the event. Diana Ramos also finished in the top 10, clearing 1.70m (5-7) to take seventh. 

Samantha Noennig won her fourth shot put contest this season with a mark of 18.18m (59-7.75). Jordan Geist placed second for the men, throwing a mark of 19.72m (64-8.5).

Johnnie Blockburger picked up a big win in the men's 400m finals with a time of 46.84, good for a PR. On the women's side, Meisberger also clocked a new 400m PR time of 53.73.

Tanner Hagstrom won the men's 800m race, putting up a time of 1:53.62.

The men's relay squad of Blockburger, Logan Hasher, Stimac and Calvin Wilson closed out competition for the Wildcats with a win in the mile relay, clocking a time of 3:14.37.

The men's side finished the weekend in fourth place with a team score of 53 while the women finished seventh with 39 points.
