TUCSON, Ariz - Arizona will send three student-athletes to compete at the 2026 Division I indoor track and field championships, set for March 13–14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Wildcats will be represented by
Emma Gates in the high jump,
Mason Lawyer in the 60 meters, and
Tapenisa Havea in the shot put. To qualify for the national meet, student-athletes must rank among the top 16 in the NCAA in their respective events during the indoor season.
Lawyer enters the meet with the fifth-fastest time in the NCAA this season after running a program-record 6.51 seconds at the Big 12 Championships. His second-fastest time of 6.59 seconds, recorded in the Big 12 prelims, ranks 16th nationally. Lawyer returns to the national stage after placing 14th at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 6.62 seconds.
Gates heads into the championships ranked fourth in the NCAA with a season-best clearance of 1.91 meters, recorded at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque in late January. She most recently finished fifth at the Big 12 Championships after clearing 1.88 meters. Last season, Gates placed fourth at the NCAA Indoor Championships with the same height.
Havea enters nationals ranked 14th in the shot put with her season-best throw of 17.22 meters, recorded at the season opener at Northern Arizona. The meet will mark Havea's first career appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
