Wildcats to Kick off Outdoor Season at Willie Williams Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats are set to kick off the 2021 Outdoor Track and Field season at the Willie Williams Classic on Friday and Saturday at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
Competition will begin on Friday at 12:00 p.m. MST with freshman Ava David in the women's hammer throw. Running events will follow at 5:30 p.m. with the 400m hurdles. Saturday will get started at 11:30 a.m. with the men's triple jump. Due to COVID-19 safety measures, the meet will not be open to the public.

Competing at the meet will be Arizona State, Grand Canyon, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona and Texas A&M.
The Wildcats are coming off of a successful Indoor season that they wrapped up on March 12th and 13th at the NCAA Championships where Samantha Noennig (SP) and Israel Oloyede (WT) finished as National Runner-Ups in their events, earning First Team All-America honors. Lillian Lowe also earned First Team status after finishing seventh in the high jump with a clearance of 1.81m (5-11.25). Jordan Geist also competed at the Championships where he capped off the season as a Second Team All-American. The men's and women's teams both finished as top-25 programs with the women ranking 20th and the men 25th.
