Cross Country to Compete at Pac-12 Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Cross Country is headed to University Place, Wash. for this year's Pac-12 Cross Country Championships on Friday, March 5.

Competition is set to kick off at 12:00 p.m. MST with the women's 6k race followed by the men's 8k at 1:00 p.m. The races will be broadcast live nationally on the Pac-12 Network as well as the Pac-12 Now App. On the call will be Jim Watson and Tom Feuer.

Leading the Wildcats this season has been Keelah Barger and Victor Ortiz-Rivera. Barger is coming off of two wins at the team's two regular season meets, running a season best time of 21:34.3 in the 6k at the Dave Murray Invitational.

Ortiz-Rivera has competed in one meet this season, also winning the Dave Murray Invitational by a margin of 13 seconds and clocking a PR of 24:23.6 in the 8k. Shem Kemboi and Grace Driskill have also been consistent top finishers for the Wildcats, finishing in the top 10 in both meets this season.

Last year, the women's side ran their best Pac-12 performance since 2013, finishing sixth with a team score of 191. Jennie Baragar-Petrash was the team's top finisher, coming in 23rd with a time of 20:22.8 in the 6k race. On the men's side, the team finished eighth with a score of 240. Carlos Villarreal was the men's top finisher with a 25th place finish, clocking 23:45.8 in the 8k.
