FRISCO, Texas — The Arizona Wildcats (9-2) extended their win streak to eight games and secured a Frisco College Baseball Classic championship with a 15-8 victory over Dallas Baptist (7-3) on Saturday afternoon.
The back-and-forth affair provided a difficult test for the Wildcats, who battled back for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after losing the lead in the top half of the frame. They scored three more in the eighth to seal the deal.
After the Arizona offense rallied in the sixth, right-handed reliever
Quinn Flanagan tossed three dominant innings to earn his second save. Flanagan allowed just one hit and struck out eight on 56 pitches, at one point striking out seven in a row.
Wildcats starting pitcher
Garrett Irvin was limited to 3.0 innings of work and allowed just one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts. He did not factor into the decision.
