TUCSON, Ariz. – After a sixth place finish at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships,
Victor Ortiz-Rivera has qualified to compete at the NCAA Championships on Monday, March 15. The NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 7 picked 31 teams and 38 individual athletes to compete in the national competition.
The redshirt junior runner from Barranquitas, Puerto Rico clocked a PR of 22:59.8 in the men's 8k race to grab a top-10 finish for the Wildcats at the Pac-12 Championships, shaving his previous best time by almost a minute and a half. Coming off of a win at the Dave Murray Invitational on February 19, Ortiz-Rivera's qualifying performance in University Place, Wash. was only his second race of the season.Â
He will head to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the NCAA Championships on Monday, hosted by Oklahoma State University. The men will race at 11:40 a.m. and the competition will be broadcast live on ESPNU or the ESPN app beginning at 10:30 a.m. MST.
