Cats Use Long Hole Scoring For Seventh Place at AHA

AUGUSTA, GA – No. 14 Arizona Men's Golf took on all comers at the loaded Augusta Haskins Award Invite on the first day, finishing in seventh at 4-under par after two rounds. The Wildcats did their damage on the par-5 holes with the second lowest scoring average of 4.60 among the 5 teams. Senior Brad Reeves led the way for Arizona at 3-under par and an 18th place position heading into the final round.

"Our team got off to a great start and had everyone under par early," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We were comfortable on the course with momentum. We made some mistakes finishing the first round, and we struggled to get it going again. We have a plan to improve tomorrow and being in the first wave of teams on the course should give us a chance to post a good one and move up the board."

Senior Trevor Werbylo and sophomore Chase Sienkiewicz both finished two strokes behind Reeves at 1-under and in a tie for 24th place. The duo combined to make five birdies on the par-5 holes in the second round alone.

Arizona, as one of the seven teams to break par on the first day, trails sixth place UCF by two strokes and fifth place Virginia Tech by eight strokes on the leaderboards.

The third and final round of the Augusta Haskins Award Invite will begin at 5:30 a.m. (MST) and will be carried on a live stream to watch.
